Iceland Day 6 Last Day!

Our last day in Iceland! We had to get up early to make sure we could finish all of the things we wanted to do before we had to return our rental car.

This viking ship on the waterfront was stunning. It's called The Sun Voyager. We had passed it several times all week at all times of night and day...but I'm glad I got it in the morning light like I did.

I think that I got some really great pictures with my camera but I have to admit that I really love the effects you can use with Google Creative to make pictures really pop.

Reykjavik Harbor

One last crooked shot of Hallgrimskirkja from the car.

There were a couple of caches we still wanted to find. This search led us to this building...where Reagan and Gorbachev had a "meeting in the middle", since Iceland is in between Russia and the United States.

This is a micro cache with just a log to sign.

Reykjavik has several interesting sculptures and artwork displays throughout the city. I love that.

The water was really warm coming up through this hole. What a contrast to how cold it was that day!

This was our last shot at crossing to the lighthouse on Grotta Island during low tide before we had to head to the airport. We still had a cache to find out there!

I finally found the cache hidden on top of the rock wall that separates the island from the sea. It's hard to see but right under that center rock you can see a plastic bag.

Our car wasn't dirty. Our car had an adventure. You're welcome car.

Aaron + Cortni 2014 Iceland!!!!

I would never get tired of this view.

One more stop at the hot dog stand! Baejarins Beztu Pylsur!

"with everything"

We walked around the city a bit to pick up last minute souvenirs. I really loved how much artwork was around the city. This mural was all tiles. Gorgeous!

Yeah, I'll take a Kevin Bacon ;)

I loved the tiny streets of Reykjavik. I could walk that city for hours and never get bored.

This is the main bus hub in downtown...they have such an easy bus system in Reykjavik. Although, the bus drivers drive like maniacs! They are fast and efficient and I like it! If there was ever a place in this world made for my kind of driving, it is definitely Iceland.

Time to go! We took our time walking the city and finally riding the bus back to our hotel. Once we got there I went upstairs to pack and Aaron went to arrange our shuttle to the airport. Turns out it was arriving in 10 minutes!! If we missed it we would miss our flight. Have you ever packed a weeks worth of stuff, including hiking gear in 10 minutes? We did!! And I don't recommend it!!

Bye Iceland...until summer 2015!!

What a treat! Since we flew in to Iceland at night we didn't get to see anything out of the plane. On the way home, however, we had a wonderful view of Greenland!! The layers of ice surrounding the eastern side of the country was amazing!! For miles it was nothing but ice in the ocean until we could finally see land.

As we flew over Greenland I thought of how nice it was to get to see it since I will probably never travel there. Then I found out that there are a few caches hidden there...obviously at some point in my life I have to go to Greenland!!

All we could see was ice and snow.

So that is the conclusion of our Iceland trip. We had a amazing time and I already miss it. Iceland is a unique experience, the people are so friendly and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen...makes it easy to want to call it home.

We have already started planning another trip to Iceland for the summer of 2015. We are skipping the hotel stay and primitive camping throughout the entire island for 1-2 weeks so we can really enjoy it and take twice as many pics!
